“Bubblegum Workshop”

Led by Ryan Berley of Shane Confectionery, and Jay Schwartz from the Secret Cinema.

Mr. Berley will provide a brief presentation on the history of bubblegum.  Mr. Schwartz will present a 17-minute vintage film, from his collection, entitled “The Story of Bubblegum” (1952), featuring Philadelphia’s own Fleer Corporation.  And, of course, you will get to make your own bubblegum from scratch using base ingredients.  Since 1992, the Secret Cinema has been the Philadelphia area’s premiere floating repertory cinema series, bringing hundreds of unique programs to everywhere from nightclubs to coffee houses, from museums to open fields, and sometimes even theaters.  Secret Cinema attempts to explore the uncharted territory and the genres that fall between the cracks, all on real celluloid.
