Fifteen years ago Mr. Kerr discovered an extraordinary astronomical painting by D.Owen Stephens which sent him on a quest to learn about the artist.  Using what material he could find from public sources and the family, Bob presented a fascinating picture of Owen Stephens that requires further investigation, not the least of which is the search for some of his more specific works.

Wendy Chmielewski, historian, author, curator, and specialist in 19th C. women’s history discussed lesser known women of the Delaware Valley region who were early pioneers and leaders of women’s roles in society between 1840 and 1950.  Her talk introduced us to Graceanna Lewis, Francis Ellen W. Harper, Fanny Jackson Coppin, Anna Howard Shaw and Mildred Olmsted.
