“A ‘Medician Arcadia’ in the Catskills: Material Culture and Community at the Byrdcliffe Arts and Crafts Community”
A lecture given by Thomas Guiler, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of History and Public Humanities, Academic Programs, Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library.
Byrdcliffe, an artist colony founded in 1902 in Woodstock, New York, was an important force in the Arts and Crafts movement in America. The community has a rich artistic and social legacy which has carried over to current days. The Museum is planning a weekend trip to Byrdcliffe in the summer of 2022.
